The Rabbit's Hole
In the mirror
who is that, I see?
An old man with hair of silver
staring back at me
Turning quickly, I get a glimpse of shadows
A younger me laughing
chasing another reflection's dream.
I swear I see a little boy smiling, beckoning me
" Come play . Forget the worry
Hurry ! Catch up. You'll see! "
*********
Am I awake ? I must be dreaming!
Is this madness? or am I being freed?
**********
Falling through the Rabbit's hole
in search of the ever elusive me.
Who's that holding hands with Alice
laughing with a Madman's glee.
I can't believe my eyes
this must surely be a dream
*************
Down the hole I jump and go
chasing the younger me
Freed by all this madness
I'm just in time for tea
"The Rabbit's late that's normal."
The Door Mouse says to me
"Now what's your haste no time to waste
on the worries of growing old"
With a grin, Cheshire joined in
proffering his advice
"The caterpillar within
is where you should begin
If you wish to be the butterfly "
With a jolt, I awoke
to the wonder of being me
It's not your gray that sets the day
When you let the child inside be free
