Daydreamer

 

    Lazy days

    fields of green

    Skies overhead

    so blue

    A boy chews 

    on a blade of grass

    Daydreaming

    as only a boy can do!

    A day

    so overcast and gray

    A desk

    with bills 

    long past

    over due 

    A man sits

    chews on his lip

    Wonders

    whatever shall he do?

    Vanquishing dragons

    in the clouds

    Saving damsels

    in distress

    In his dream

    he's the hero 

    He finds

    the lost treasure chest!

    Avoiding calls

    from collections

    Wondering 

    how he will pay the bills

    Never the one

    to play the victim

    He chokes down

    the bitter pill!

    The boy is sure

    he can be

    

    Anything

    he wants to be

    His Mom and Dad

    they told him so

    Just keep believing 

    in those big dreams!

    He thinks about 

    his Mom and Dad

    How they wanted him

    to succeed!

    How the world

    keeps closing in

    Taking 

    pieces of his big dream!

    Feeling 

    alone and helpless

    He hears a voice

    calling from his past

    Don't ever give up 

    on your dreams

    Become 

    a victim of circumstance!

    Calling out

    to his past

    Help me 

    find my peace

    Take me back

    to the field

    Where I dreamed

    A little boy's 

    Big Dream!
