Friendly Fire
Lost , alone and wandering
the Northern light my only guide.
I heard a single Solstice bell
break the silence of the night.
The smell of a Yule fire inviting me
to enjoy it's warmth and light.
A hopeful voice singing sweet Noel
dispelled my angst and fright.
A group of strangers welcomed me
"Please come in, we're all good friends
warm your bones beside the fire."
Then they asked me for my name
and introduced themselves one by one.
As if by magic , a mug of cocoa did appear
warming my hands and heart.
I was filled up to the top
with love and their good cheer.
We talked
we sang
we laughed alot
a tear or two was shed.
We who once were strangers
were now the closest friends.
I told them I was thankful
for all that they had done.
They said they were grateful
that I had come along.
"People are only strangers
until they forge a friendship bond."
